你有没发现你在中国待得时间越长,你的英语就越差?

Do you find that your English is deteriorating the longer you stay in China

好比会忘掉一些单词,以及如何用更好的措辞来准确形容事物。我觉得这很有趣,因为一些在西方待过相当长时间的中国人,他们会学会其所在地的口音并了解这之间的细微差别。你觉得会不会是因为我们这些海外雇员被几亿中国人所包围(更别说他们人数比我们多太多),所以早晚这种“我很好,谢谢,那你呢?”的中式英语会渗透进我们的日常用语中?

Such as forgetting words and how to phrase things more accurately.

I find it interesting that for some Chinese that has spent considerable time in the west they tend to pick up the accent and the nuances from the place they were at.

Do you think because us expats are surrounded by (not to mention outnumbered by) BILLION Chinese sooner or later that Chinglish "I'm fine sanke you andde you?" will start creeping in into our daily parlance?

I've been teaching overseas for ~9 years now and yes absolutely. Anytime I go home to visit family/friends I often feel way less articulate than I used to be and tongue tied

我在海外教书已有9年了。是的,绝对会变成这样。每当我回国看望家人/朋友时,我常觉得自己说话表达比以前不连贯不清楚忑多了,我还会舌头打结。

Just say nige nigeeeeee a few times to organise your thoughts

那就多说几次“那个、那个”来整理下思路。

前提是他家不是黑人。

YES! Both when speaking and in writing. On top of that I've started rrrr'ing when I speak and sound like a goddamn pirate from my time spent in the north.

对!不管是口语还是书面都会出现这种情况。最重要的是,因为我在北方待过,所以我说话的时候开始带儿化音了,这让我听上去像个该死的海盗。

Any other northern characteristics you picked up such as alcoholism smoking and so on?

你还学会了其他的北方特色吗?比如酗酒、抽烟等等。

Surprisingly coughing up dirty big slags of phlegm and hurling them at unsuspecting westerners on the street. Who would've thought?

他们会令人惊讶地咳出恶心的一大口痰,然后吐向街上没有任何戒心防备的西方人。谁会想到会发生这种事呢?

English is not my first language but nevertheless in work I need to consciously simplify my English all the time be it written or spoken. I catch myself doing it even when not needed sounding like someone who learned to speak yesterday.

英语不是我的母语,但不管怎样,在工作中,我需要一直有意识地简化我的英语,无论是书面的还是口语的。我发现自己即便在不需要这么做的时候也已经(习惯)这样做了,我听起来就像是一个昨天才学会说话的人。

+1 Since you have to ELI6 everything you just form the habit to avoid questions or misunderstandings.

同楼上,因为你必须达到英文语言学习6级的水平,所以你已经形成了使用避免产生问题或误解的用语的习惯。

No I found my spoken English accent became more Received Pronunciation than before due to deliberately talking slowly and clearly so that colleagues and clients could understand.

不,我发现我的口语口音比以前更标准更易于理解,因为我会特意放慢语速将发音说得更清楚,以便同事和客户能理解。

My English is just as well as it was when I first come here thanks.

谢谢,我的英文水平和刚来这里的时候一样好。

I'm not sure that my English is getting worse but I think it has to do with me being more aware of my mistakes.

我不确定我的英语是否越来越差,但我认为这与我更能察觉到自己的错误有关。

YES! not the pronunciation writing or forgetting words. But my spoken grammar has taken a massive dive. specifically poor conjugation and skipping conjunctions.

对!不是发音、写作或忘记单词。但我的口语语法已经大幅度跳水了。特别是动词的词形变化和省略连词。

My grammar very bad now. After time in China me making it simple. I every day working with factory people. I tell: "you look this not OK you fix now. After fix show me. Me check".

我的语法现在很差。在中国待了一段时间后我把它简单化了。我每天和工厂的人一起工作。我会这么说:“你看下这个、不、好的、你现在就修下。修好后让我看。我检查下。“

I am new here but due to lack of English lexical capability of Chinese people; I find myself re-iterating the same statement/questions in a simpler way. I have a feeling that I'll use the language in a simpler way.

我刚来这儿,但由于中国人缺乏英语词汇量,我发现自己会用一种更简单的方式来说明重复同样的语句/问题。我感觉自己变得在用更简单的方式来表达英语。

Another problem is I sometimes don't know what things are called in British/American English; I just tell them what I used to call it in Australia and if they don't know what that is then I'll have to google it. For instance noone here knows what a schooner glass is.

另一个问题是,我有时不知道他们说的英式英语用法/美式英语用法是什么鬼,我只告诉他们我在澳大利亚对这种东西的叫法,如果他们不知道那是什么,那我就必须得谷歌下。例如,这里没人知道什么是帆船玻璃杯(玻璃酒杯)。

Mine improved I had to work on toning down my native accent and I worked to take IELTS.

我的英文是提高了,因为我必须努力减轻我的口音,而且我为了雅思考试而用工过。

Don't know others spent a year in SG and now I CAN everything. Can? Can lah! Can can can.

我不知道别人怎样,我在新加坡待了一年,现在我干什么都用“能”。能?能啦!能能能。

[–]happyguy604[S] 1 指標 剛剛

Ai ya oso can wan.

哎呀,我说我能拉(音译)。

Btw Singaporeans use the phrase "can or cannot?" I think it comes from 可不可以?

顺便说句,新加坡人用的“can or cannot?”这个短语。我猜它来自于“可不可以?”
